Cecilia started her career in textile art since her childhood. Her great life companions: needles, threads and fabric.
She is one of the great young creators of contemporary quilting. She has her own style, achieving great works of art with simple, yet extraordinarily well crafted techniques.
In 2018 she was named "New Quilting Star" in the Houston International Quilt Festival after having successfully displayed her work during 10 consecutive years in this prestigious show.
There are few teachers who have as wide teaching experience as her, she gives various classes a day throughout the whole week!
By herself, she teachers more than 70 students per week, and she also takes time to create her own personal pieces.
She has won many and very important prizes in various contests.
Cecilia is a woman who is passionate about life, sewing and art. Her main traits: her inner strength and overflowing joy.

Passacaglia or one thousand flowers

This class is 6 hours long.
Passacaglia is an extreme patchwork project sewn by hand.
In this class you will learn Cecilia's secrets in order to combine hand and machine sewing, achieving a finished quilt in less time.
It is a fun and entertaining technique to make a memorable quilt with a simple technique!

The teacher will supply the fabrics kit, prepared for each student in order to make one of the rosettes.
Cost: $15 USD, which will be paid directly to the teacher upon arrival to class.

The Dragonfly

This is a 6 hour class.
The size of the finished piece will be 65x55cm.
This is a fun class for all levels of experience.
We will play with fabrics stained with various colors in order to obtain lights, shadows and transparencies.
It is NOT hard: you will have to learn to see fabrics with a different criteria and internalize the colors of the prints in order to see them as sources of color and light.
With this technique, you will be able to make infinite images.

MATERIAL:
100% cotton fabrics:
- 65 x 55 cm light fabric for the background
- 30x55cm multicolor fabric for the wings
- 4 plain light fabrics of 10x55cm in ivory, black, blue and brown colors, for the body
- 4 fabrics of 10x55cm in different shades of green – from light to dark – for the branch

Textile tiles

This class is 3 hours long.
In this class, you will learn how to make spectacular "Venetian quilts" with the secrets to easily produce them.
This is a technical class, so you'll practice with a small piece, but you'll acquire the design and manufacture knowledge to make any image.

MATERIALS:
- 40cm fine black tule
- 40x40 cm plain black 100% cotton fabric
- 40x40cm cotton batting or felt
- 45x45cm cotton fabric for the back
- Fabric scraps in bright colors to make the mosaic. They don’t need to be cotton; metallic and shiny fabrics are desired. You may visit a tailor for night dresses who can give you fabric scraps
- A PRITT glue stick
- Black polyester or cotton thread.

TOOLS:

- Medium cutting mat
- Tweezers
- Very sharp scissors for fabric

Woven landscapes

This class is 3 hours long.
Ih this class you will learn how to make "woven fabrics" with various shapes, in order to achieve movement and depth effects in your quilts.
All the effects are different and according to the taste of each artist. You can achieve a classic or contemporary piece.
You will need to know how to sew with a machine in order to finish your piece.
You can intertwine the fabrics in a very easy manner, in order to achieve optic effects with curves or perspective and thus create marvellous backgrounds in the quilts, without the need to deal with curved seams and complicated cuts.

TOOLS:
- Sharp rotary cutter
- Tweezers
- Masking tape
- Common pins or glass head pins
- Scissors
- A towel to iron on top of

MATERIALS:
- For the field: 2 fabrics of 35 x 18 cm (14" x 7") in different shades of green or another color.
- 2 fabrics of 10 x 15cm in other shades of green or another color and other 3 or 4 green, yellow or printed fabrics for the rest of the hills.
- For the sky: 40 x 35cm fabric for the sky
- Fabric scraps for the applications of houses, sun and trees
- 50cm very fine batting
- Fabric for the border and the back
- 50cm double-sided thermoadhesive . The one with paper that attaches with the iron in two steps (Heat N Bond, Wonder Under or Steam a Seam)

This is a color and design class, in order to achieve depth in the piece.
We will do various exercises:
- Drawing various proposals
- We will study the chromatic circle and the color gradients
- Project design, applying what we have learned already in order to achieve a quilt like my tube
- Sew a small tube in order to apply what we have learned in a practical project
In order to take this class, you must know how to sew a log cabin and have previous patchwork experience.

Pojagi, Korean transparency

This class is 6 hours long.
The Korean technique is traditionally done by hand, but in this class you will learn how to make it quickly and easily, using a sewing machine.
With this technique, you will learn how to play with transparencies.
You will learn how to choose fabrics and prepare them in order to cut and sew.
The class consists of a theory section, as well as a practical one.
The preparation of the fabrics is essential for this technique. You will learn how to do it, but since this process takes time, the teacher will provide work kits.

The teacher will provide a prepared fabrics kit for each student.
$10 USD to be paid directly to the teacher upon arrival.

Fantastic Cherries!

Class duration: 6 hours.
Size of the piece: 60x90cm.
In this class you will learn how to achieve a design piecing from a photograph.
During the morning, all the students will learn how to separate shadows and colours, then they will trace the patterns.
After lunch, I will show you the process of my Chocolate Strawberry.
Afterwards we will begin sewing the pieces and cutting with the ADD rulers (a great discovery).

MATERIALS:
- 5 fat quarters in shades from very light pink to garnet, for the cherries
- 1m of fabric for the background in white or very light gray
- 3 fat quarters in shades of light, medium and dark gray for the shadows
- 3 fat quarters in shades of light, medium and dark green fabrics for the leaf
- 4 fat quarters in different shades, from ochre to dark brown for the stems
- 1m very fine white interlining, without adhesive

- 25mm rotary cutter with a new blade
